Graduation Requirements

  1. Required course credits: To graduate, students have to take 128 credits of courses in total (including 28 credits for courses in General Education, 2 credits for required courses in the College of International Studies and Foreign Languages (ISFL), 54 credits for required courses in the department, 44 credits for elective courses in the department. Among these credits, 18 credits could be earned for required or elective courses in other departments at CCU).

  1. Earning credits from other departments: 18 credits can be recognized if these courses are offered by programs that belong to the same college at CCU. If not, only 10 credits can be recognized. However, if the courses are offered by other departments in the College of Foreign Languages, students should take courses from the same language department in order for these courses to be recognized.

 

Credits of the required courses taken in minor or double major degrees cannot be counted as part of the English Department’s elective credits. However, credits earned in the same special credit program offered by other departments can be recognized up to 18 credits if students completed the program.

 

  1. English Proficiency Requirement for Graduation: reach the level of TOEFL ITP 550+, TOEFL IBT 79+, or GEPT High-Intermediate or better, IELTS score of 5.5+, or TOEIC 750+.
  2. Undergraduate students who are admitted in and after the 2014 academic year and beyond must meet the credit requirements and meet the English Proficiency requirement above to be eligible to graduate. Undergraduate students who are admitted prior to the 2014 academic year should refer to “Core Curriculum Course Lists for details.

 

  1. Students who have not successfully met the English proficiency for graduation may take the remedial Summer Intensive English course in their senior year. To enroll in this course, students should submit one official records (grade reports of tests), with a score equivalent to TOEIC 500 or above. For questions regarding remedial Summer Intensive English course please refer to Summer Course Information of the year.
